What are CuGrips?
Copper is a self-sanitising surface. CuGrips are copper wraps that can easily be applied to high-touch surfaces such as door handles, hand rails etc. to reduce the chance of infection.
CuGrip wraps, pronounced Q-grip, Cu" being the symbol for copper of the periodic table, were, proudly designed, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and manufactured in Ohio in the USA.

How Do CuGrip Wraps Work?
How does it work?
CuGrip wraps are made entirely of copper, which carries ions that inactivate microbes including viruses and bacteria left on its surface. Copper was found to kill the COVID-19 virus on its surface 12 times faster than on regular door handles with a stainless steel surface.
Is there any science backing this up?
Copper has been known to have antimicrobial properties dating back to ancient Egypt and more recently, has inspired many research and experimental studies. We will be keeping an up to date list of studies and references which you can find here.
Are viruses deactivated on the surface immediately?
CuGrip copper wraps' disinfection process never stops and begins as soon as bacteria and viruses touch its surface. Each will have a specific rate at which it will deactivate viruses and therefore the lifetime of each specific bacteria or virus will vary. The COVID-19 virus was observed to be affected almost immediately after touching the copper surface however took just under 4 hours to be completely deactivated.
How do I install the CuGrip Wraps?
CuGrips are made to be easily installed and removable. Before installing, make sure that the surface you will be installing it on is clean.
Remove the protective film on the copper surface.
Peel the wrap from its adhesive backing.
Apply the CuGrip to the surface, ensuring that the edges are flattened.
CuGrip wraps take seconds to install and can easily be applied by anyone. No special expertise needed!
CuGrip uses special adhesive to make installation and removal easy. Its weatherproof property keeps a durable, strong bond and its acrylic based, zero residue feature provides excellent removability.
CuGrip uses a special, zero-residue adhesive which leaves nothing behind and comes off smoothly. This was thoroughly tested on metals, glass, wood, ceramics, plastics and other hard surfaces.

Should i still disinfect surfaces?
Yes. Although CuGrip provides an extra layer of protection against viruses and bacteria, recommendations provided by your local public health officials should always be followed.
Routine cleaning to remove dirt and filth is necessary for good sanitation and to assure the effective antibacterial performance of this surface. Cleaning agents typically used for traditional hard, non-porous touch surfaces are permissible. Normal tarnishing or wear of this surface will not impair antibacterial effectiveness.
What happens when the copper changes color?
Discoloration or, oxidation, is a natural process of copper and is expected. This initial process does not inhibit its disinfection capabilities.
How llong does it last?
We recommend changing CuGrip wraps when high levels of wear are reached (e.g. punctures and tearing) or when complete discoloration can be observed (however, oxidation will not impair antibacterial effectiveness). This is highly dependent on environment and typical cases show CuGrip wraps last from 1 to 6 months.
What size do they come in?
CuGrip wraps come in various dimensions, depending on the application. To decide which size is right for you, you can browse our online store to find a surface you'd like to apply CuGrip to. The wraps included in that order will be specifically sized to that surface.
Can I order a custom shape/size?

CuGrip, in collaboration with Teck Resources, has and is currently working with Translink Vancouver on their pilot project that involves CuGrip wraps being installed on busses and sky trains to help stop the spread of harmful pathogens.

Copper kills up to 99.9% of bacteria on transit surfaces, study finds TransLink, Teck, and Vancouver Coastal Health prepare for trial’s second phase
Vancouver, B.C. – Results from TransLink’s industry-leading trial show that copper is effective at killing bacteria on high-touch transit surfaces. Based on sample-testing performed on transit and in a lab, the trial concludes that select copper products on transit are durable and kill up to 99.9 per cent of all bacteria within one hour of the bacteria’s contact with the surface.
